Ian Morrison

Entrepreneurial CIO · Business-systems architect

I build the systems behind operating businesses — and stay accountable for how they run. From clinical genetics to commercial operations, as CIO, architect and hands-on builder.

Show me the thinking — one business question, followed end to end.

Give your business a brain

Most organisations run on knowledge that lives in people's heads and scattered tools. I wire knowledge, rules and decisions into the systems that run the operation — so answers are grounded in your own evidence, actions are authorised before they happen, and the system learns from every result.

Scattered

Knowledge in heads, spreadsheets and disconnected tools.

Governed business brain

Answers grounded in your evidence. Decisions with an owner. Actions that are authorised, then executed.

Operation

The business runs on it — and reviews what happened, so the system improves.

DNA Insights — CIO and business-systems architect

2021 – Feb 2026 · Genetics & telehealth

Five years as CIO of a genetics and telehealth operating business serving ~250,000 patients: the technology, data and operations layer behind the service, built and run in role.

The work supported ~$1.8bn of downstream ecosystem revenue — revenue that belongs to the ecosystem it enabled, not to Ian personally. Contribution: architecture, decision rules and delivery accountability, delivered with the DNA Insights team.

One question, followed end to end

Not a chatbot and not a slide deck: a guided trace of a real operating question — what was modelled, what was chosen, what was deliberately left human, and what the evidence shows.

One capability, three ways to engage it

01 / Primary

Permanent roles

The primary conversation. Senior operating roles — CIO or business-systems leadership — where the capability is exercised at full scale. Employment enquiries reach Ian directly.

02 / Secondary

Fractional / interim

Bounded mandates as your operating CIO. Current fractional work is live proof of the same capability, not a separate career.

Advisory & projects

Focused engagements: diagnose, design, build. No packaged offers, no compulsory funnel.
